What are some of your accomplishments so far?
Kipping pull ups and not throwing up after a workout.
What goals do you have going forward?
Not being ashamed to write my time and weight on the board and I guess throwing up after a workout since that means I really pushed myself.

The 5:00 a.m. class motivates me.  They are awesome.
What is your favorite exercise?
I don't think favorite and exercise go together!!  I would say pull ups

Filthy Fifty on a good day, Dirty Thirty on a bad day.
Least favorite exercise?
Rowing, Rowing, Rowing

Murph

Daren and Bing yelling, I mean encouraging me .

Describe your first experience with CrossFit.
The first thing I remember when I walked into the box for On Ramp was the smell, weird right?  It smelled like 'healthy' and it made me really nervous.  Sure enough two minutes into my first WOD I puked, realized how out of shape I was and became instantly hooked.
What brought you to CrossFit?
I had just finished an extremely heavy meal at Freebirds after getting word from my doctor that my yearly blood work resembled that of a 40-year-old man. To add insult to injury, after dinner I went to the mall with the sole intention of buying an Auntie Anne Pretzel.  On my way home, my half-eaten pretzel and I got stuck in traffic at Hollemon and Texas.  Sure enough, there was a bunch of crazy people jumping on boxes and skipping rope.  I realized my habits had to stop, and they had to stop IMMEDIATELY.  I literally called that minute while I was still stuck behind the red light.  I signed up for On Ramp and the rest is history.
What keeps you going with it?
Knowing that every single day and with every single WOD I'm bettering my life in every single way possible.
What are some of your accomplishments so far?
HUGE gains in weights.  Before CrossFit, I had never lifted a barbell in my life and it really, really showed.  I went from 75# cleans when I started to 155# cleans last week.  I also jumped from 185# deadlifts on my first CF total to 275# on the latest.  I've gotten faster and stronger in every way possible and I'm nowhere near as uncoordinated as I used to be.
What goals do you have going forward?
To get better.  To keep my healthy lifestyle.  To get strong enough to go full-on Rx for every single workout.  To encourage others to begin a healthy life.
Who are your role models or what motivates you?
CrossFitter's who juggle family, work and exercise.  That's no easy task. And LuluLemon
What is your favorite exercise?
Anything involving body weight movements.
Favorite workout?
The Girl WODs, they are great bench markers.
Least favorite exercise?
Since on-ramp my least favorite exercise hands down is and will always be THRUSTERS.
Worst workout you ever did?
100 unbroken wall-balls for time; for every break in reps, run a 400.  No question.  Not much fun when I could only do about 10 reps before dropping the ball.  You do the math. I'm still holding a grudge.
What motivates you during a workout?
I'm motivated by the environment.  I see everyone giving it their all every day.  Doing less than that makes me feel like I'm cheating myself.
If you had to pick one thing to eat at every meal, from now until forever what would it be?
Spaghetti Squash....and sardines. I plan on making those little tins of surprisingly whole9 friendly joy mainstream at the box someday.
If you could become one animal what would it be?
Random.  I have no clue.... how about an octopus with a dumbbell on each tentacle?
Will CrossFit be a part of your life for years to come?
Yes.  This activity has really changed my life and I don't think I could go without it.
What advice can you give everyone out there?
Keep at it and keep it real.  No one is perfect.  If you expect perfection you are setting yourself up for hard failure.  This was a difficult lesson for me to learn.  It's weird, but once I got past the huge fear of being imperfect, my performance capability increased ten-fold. I still have diet slips, I'm not the strongest or the fastest and I am not the best athlete.  But, I'm getting better and having fun getting there.  As long as you are happy with the big picture, and avoid sweating the small stuff, you will feel like you are on top of the world every single day.  OH, and go barefoot during a WOD every now and again.

  1. This is awesome. You've made some crazy good strength gains my friend. And I'm really glad I haven't had to do that wall ball WOD, that sounds sick. But spaghetti squash and sardines? I'll pass haha. Advice=spot on. I feel like I just had a great conversation with you. Win. Keep it up.
