Tough crowd, tough crowd. So I was talking to someone last week about whether we could row faster than we could run, plus I talked to Beth about how far a marathon was in meters and whether that was doable on a rower. Today I put those ideas together and figured out what pace you'd have to hold to row a marathon (42,195m) as fast as the men's world record marathon time (running of course). The record is currently 2 hours, 3 minutes, and 59 seconds, so your rowing pace would have to be a...you ready for this?
a 1:28.15. ARE YOU KIDDING?!? I can BARELY hold that for 500m, much less 84.39 500's. That's nuts. This concludes my random number crunchings for the day. I hope your mind is absolutely blown, cause mine is. Let's see those times for today! Also, had to delete my post the first time around because I messed the distance up. This edited post resulted in an even faster 500m split than I had before, so I'm even more amazed. Ok, I'm done. Story over.

I think I'd give you commendation for continually rowing a 3:00 pace for two hours. That sounds awful.
ReplyDeleteGeez louise, Bing! This confirms my suspicion that running is better than rowing.

I dunno. I kinda prefer rowing to running..not that I am good at either. Hoping to improve on both :)
ReplyDelete14:51 Rx (still catching my breath).
ReplyDeleteFrom the Concept 2 website (that's who makes the rowers we use):
ReplyDeleteThe fastest times are around 2 hours 29 minutes.
That equals about a 1:45 500m pace... ouch.
this one was tough and awesome! KBS's add a little extra oomph to those runs (still better than rowing)!

This was tough, no lie. Not a fan of running. 13:35 RX'd. The heat doesn't help. At all.

ReplyDeleteBing - You crack me up!
ReplyDeleteDid alternate workout of 120 body rows and 120 ring dips since my knee is still yelling at me...hopefully I'll be better later this week. ;)
